How to Take Care of Angelfish

Adding Angelfish To Your Freshwater Fish Tank

Angelfish is the fish which is found in the slow flowing river waters of the South America. It is perhaps the most recognizable and strikingly beautiful fish available. These are extremely graceful and most easy to breed as well. They have highly compressed body which distinguishes it from other fishes. With its elongated and dorsal fins it has won the heart of all aquarists.

These are not the only reasons which can conclude that angelfish is one of the best to keep in the aquarium; certainly there are reasons which prompts any passionate aquarists to go for it.

Angelfish are not that difficult to feed, they can live only on flake food as well but it will be good to keep them on varied food. Brine shrimp, black worms, and mosquito larvae are all great foods for angelfish. Frozen bloodworm's also help to keep the diet varied when live food is not available.

Although angelfish is delicate in appearance but they are reasonably hardy species. The only thing that we should take care is that some times angelfishes are violent and may eat smaller fishes.

They swim at all levels of aquarium making use of all spaces including planted one.

Angelfish are supposed to be the most intelligent and alert fish. They can learn to recognize the keepers and can accept morsels from their fingers. Apart from it, they have one more very interesting characteristic and that is, they select a mate to hang most of the time and some of them have been found to be so much attached to their partner that after one dies the second one stops eating and just perishes out of hunger.

Last but not the least; angelfishes are available in variety of colors with various patterns. Angelfishes are mostly silver in color with four vertical bars in between. Other most common colors include black, marble and gold.
